My name is Jevante Austin. I attend Jesup W. Scott High School. I have two little brothers and a little

sister. As you can tell, I am the oldest and I have a lot of responsibilities to take in order to maintain the steady life that I have right now.

I make music. Rapping is something that I’ve been doing and have loved since I was a child. My favorite artist out right now is Kendrick Lamar.

I attended Jones Leadership Academy before I came here to Scott. I really didn’t like Jones, but I was forced to go there for two years. I didn’t like Jones because of the strict rules that they had there and they were pretty petty when it came to anything.

My grades every year turn out to be a repeat of the previous year: A’s B’s and a few C’s. It’s like no matter how hard I try, I can’t maintain straight A’s.

Sometimes I get lost in my day dreams and shut people out without realizing it. The main reason I do that is I have seen a lot growing up and I often reflect on those memories.

I only have one fear and that fear is God.

Well, I’m pretty sure that’s all you need to know about me. If you would like to contact me, please email me at Jevanteaustin67@Gmail.com.

I am a 15-year-old sophomore who attends Jesup W. Scott High School. My favorite subject is geometry. I play basketball, volleyball, track and field, and the bass drum in band. I was captain of the basketball and volleyball  team my freshmen year.

My other interests are playing chess, drawing, and singing in the church choir. After I leave Scott, I will be attending college, hopefully on an academic or sports scholarship. I want to be to be an FBI, CIA, IAB, or CSI agent. My Plan B is to become a poet or songwriter. My top three colleges are North Carolina A&T State University, Florida A&M University, and Central State University. I would like to attend an historically black college.

This year is my first year at Scott High School and the first time I have gone to school without my twin. I miss her the most.  I chose to attend Scott because it is close to my new home and because my boxing teammates also attend Scott.

When I graduate, I will attend college and I plan to get a degree in the medical field.  I want to help myself and others maintain a healthy diet and I want to save lives.  As for a minor, I will look into photography because I love taking photos and creating things with them.

Let’s start off at the beginning when I was ejected out of my mom. I was born in Walnut Creek,

California, which is right outside of San Francisco. I lived in San Francisco for thirteen years and during those great years I played basketball and baseball. In baseball, I was ranked #1 in the west coast and 5th in the country. When I was thirteen years one month and 2 days old, I moved to Ohio. I thought, at the time, it was gonna be fun, but was I wrong.

Now, I somehow live here in Toledo with all of you. I don’t enjoy much anymore. The only thing I do is make YouTube videos. I make money from my videos, which makes me proud. I make about $1,000/month. After all my responsibilities, it leaves me with about $200 which sucks, but i deal with it. That was me, now you know who I am and you still wouldn’t like me.

City, Old Orchard, and Old West End Academy. I’ve maintained good grades and was always a star student.

Freshman year at Scott was an experience for me. I met new people and new teachers. I participated in Student Body Government(SBG) and Toledo Youth Leadership. I also joined the tennis, basketball, and softball teams.

When I first started playing tennis, I was very shy and scared because I didn’t know anybody. I always wanted to play tennis, I just never had anybody to play for. During summer practices, I got better and better each day. My doubles partner, Taniece Temple and I got honorable mention for doubles team. I was very excited because that was my first year playing and I did great!

By the time tennis season was over, it was time for basketball season. I started attending the open gyms and workout practices in the morning. It was very hard, but I know hard work pays off. I was the point guard and one of the captains for the JV team.  I even played varsity for a few games. I loved playing with my teammates because they were like sisters to me. We took care of our business on and off the court. We all loved our coach, Coach Duck. Basketball is another sport I love playing!

After basketball, I played softball. I played JV and most varsity games. This was another sport I never knew how to play, but I ended up doing great in it. We won 1 game against Rogers High School and that was an exciting moment for us. We came a long way from getting beaten to actually beating a team. I plan on playing softball again my sophomore year!

I enjoyed my first year at Scott. My favorite subject was always math. I received an award for most conscientious math student. At our assembly I was announced for being the girls freshman All Around Bulldog! I am happy that all my teachers helped me through this process. Now that I am a sophomore, I hope to achieve more. My journey is to be continued.

With this being my third year taking Journalism, I think that every year is a little different. With every year, it becomes more interesting. The assignments and articles that I’ve written and read about are all more interesting.

An important fact about myself is that I like sports. Basketball, baseball, football and professional hockey are a few. My favorite sports teams are the Miami Heat, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Lynx, New York Yankees and Chicago Blackhawks. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love to work and make money. This past summer I had fun with working with the Toledo Mud Hens, going on a vacation to Cedar Point, eating, and playing basketball.

This year I plan on writing articles about sports highlights, scores, and current world news, but I know this year is different so expect something different from me too.

Carolyn and James Simms. I was born in Chicago, but moved to Toledo when I was seven. When I first moved to Toledo, I didn’t like it. It was different from home and I missed my friends and family. That is until I met six wonderful people who I happen to call my best friends. They are Danielle Bryson, Christian Purdue, Katrina Glenn, Tianna Smith, and Jamie Green. I dearly love and trust them all.

I also love shopping, singing, dancing, and spending time with my family. My favorite color is green and always has been. I’m a sweet, outgoing, fun, intelligent, and caring person. I can’t say no to people because seeing others hurt makes me sad and it makes me seem mean. But, not being to say no is also a huge pet peeve. I love food and will try almost anything. My favorite foods are shrimp and tacos. I believe if I lived in the desert with those two items, I’d be just fine. That’s my life.

When I was little, I always wanted to be a cheerleader.  In the 4th grade, a lady came to my elementary school to hand out papers about cheerleading tryouts.  I talked to my mom about it and she gave me permission, so I tried out.  We had about 4 days to learn all the cheers.  On the final day, we had to do the cheers in front of the coach and two other people. Then tryouts were over.  A few days went by and I got the call that I made the cheerleading team.  I have been a cheerleader ever since that day. I love cheerleading and plan on cheering all through high school.

I am also interested in other sports like volleyball, dance, and softball. Outside of school, I like to help other people out and I like to work.

years at Horizon Science Academy Sylvania before coming to Scott High School, so I’m still adjusting. But, I can’t wait to make new friends and learn new things.

I have ADHD and bad asthma. My asthma affects me when I run, so I have to carry an emergency inhaler just in case. I just stopped taking pills for my ADHD because my parents and my doctor said I’m doing well without it. I’m just trying to take it one day at a time.

I have a passion for writing, I love to write stories. At my old school, my friends use to ask me to write superhero stories with them in it. I’m also always eating something. People used to say I eat so much, but never gain weight. I don’t have a clue why I never gain any weight.

When I grow up, I really want to be a restaurant owner. My stepdad loves to cook and seeing him do it makes me want to try. One day I’m going to ask him if he could teach me a few things. If I do ever get my own restaurant, I will serve breakfast, dinner and desserts. I will do my best to please everyone who comes to eat there.

I was brought up with two brothers and one sister. I am the youngest and I am very spoiled. I like to have fun with whatever I do, no matter what it is. I enjoy going out to eat, getting my eyebrows done, and working out. My favorite foods are lasagna and spaghetti. My biggest fears are drowning or suffocating because I feel those the worst ways to die.

One thing I want to do is start a charity and a shelter where families can get clean and look nice. I want to help them find jobs, make them feel comfortable, and start a good life. I do not like seeing homeless or less fortunate people, especially when it’s cold outside. One  day I will do the best I can to prevent homelessness.

Once I’m older I plan on being happily married with 5 children. I want to have seven cars, two trucks, and life in a nice mansion in Atlanta or California. I want to be a manager, either a sports manager or a business manager. If that doesn’t work, I want to be a doctor. Either way, I want to be rich.

I took this class because I feel like it will be fun to interview people and write about them. I think it is important to open up and confide in someone, and if people choose to do that with me, I think it will be interesting for others to read about their peers.

As life goes on, I plan on going to college and doing a double major in graphic design and business management. I also plan on starting my own company before I finish college. I’m not sure exactly what kind, but I am interested in street fashion and sports, so maybe I will end up with something like Nike and add a twist of graffiti. Only the future knows.

My goal is to graduate with an honors diploma and as valedictorian.  I plan to go to college to earn a business degree, but I would also like to be a surgeon. The reason I joined journalism was because I love writing. Writing frees my mind and allows me to get over my obstacles silently because I don’t like to draw attention to myself. I believe this class will help me in a lot of ways by allowing me to remain humbled and share my stories with others.

Journalism is something I never expected to take up in high school. At the beginning of this year, my guidance counselor offered me the class. He said he thought it would be a good class for me. In journalism, I plan to learn how to be a better writer and reporter to help prepare myself for college. One thing that interests me about the class is reporting. I think I could be a good reporter and writer.

Some other things I’m interested in are sports and shoes.  I play basketball and soccer, but my favorite sport is basketball. Also, my favorite types of shoe brands consist of Jordan, Nike and Adidas. Outside of school I enjoy hanging out with friends and family I have four brothers and one sister. One thing I think is unique about myself is that I have a twin brother.

My dream in life is to go to college, graduate with a masters in sports medicine, coach college and professional basketball, then come back and coach right here at Scott . Hopefully we will win another state championship. I’m not sure what college I want to go to, but I know I’m going to go somewhere. The number one thing that interest me about college is that people say it’s the best time of your life. After I’m done coaching and ready to retire, I want to stay home in Toledo. Maybe I’ll get married and have a couple children who I want to go to school here at Scott.

Molli Maulucci

Hello! I’m glad you have visited us here at LifeOfTheDogs.com! I am Molli Maulucci, teacher and adviser for the journalism class that publishes this Website. This is my 14th year teaching high school and all 14 years have been here at Scott. Over the years I have taught several different classes related to the English Language Arts including English, Reading, Drama, Public Speaking, and Debate. This is the second year I have taught Journalism. Public Speaking and Journalism are my favorite classes to teach because I get to witness a tremendous amount of academic and personal growth in my students as they move through these courses. Both classes encourage each student to be authentic and to find his or her own voice.

When I am not teaching or preparing to teach, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 15 years and our two children. They are all extremely active and keep me on my toes. My son, Chase, is 9 years old and in the fourth grade. He is quite the athlete participating in both travel soccer and travel baseball leagues.  This winter he will also try his hand at basketball.  He has more energy than anyone I have ever met in my life. My daughter, Maisey, is 6 years old and is in first grade. She is our dramatic little princess. She plays soccer, baseball and dances. She loves all things pink and sparkly, but don’t be fooled by her appearance; she is one tough little girl.

In those rare moments I steal away for myself, I enjoy playing volleyball and reading. I play in three adult sand volleyball leagues during the warmer months and I play in an indoor league during the winter. I also enjoy reading books on the beach. I suppose reading at home is okay too, but, if I am given the choice, I would rather have sand on my feet and sun on my face while the book is in my hand.

I look forward to our adventure in journalism this year and am very thankful for the opportunity to partner with The Blade in producing this Website. I welcome your feedback, as this is a learning experience for all involved. Feel free to contact me at mmaulucc@tps.org.

Kalia Harris

Kalia Harris

I was born and raised in Toledo, and I’ve always lived in this quiet little city. I currently live with my father and multiple pets. These include two dog, a cat, three  turtles, and many fish. I’ve left the city a few times, not too many. To date I’ve been to Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, Florida, and North Carolina. I’ve never left the country. Some of my hobbies are drawing, reading, and writing. I’m a decent writer and artist. My artist name is Galaxy. I mostly draw anime and furry art. I’m hoping to get a tablet so that I can sell more of my artwork. I believe that the arts are a great way of expressing feelings. Some may think the same way, then again, that may just be me.

One thing that I strongly oppose is bullying. I hate when people pick on others for no reason; it’s cruel and idiotic. I’m not much up for war either. Call me a hippie, I do not care. I stand strongly with my beliefs, and will always find violence barbaric. In some people’s eyes I’m nice, in others I’m crazy. As of right now, I like myself and plan to stay the wayI am. Hi, my name is Ashley Stewart and I’m junior at Scott High School.

This is my second year here. This year I’m sure I’m staying. Scott is a very interesting school. This is my first time in a journalism class. Of course the thought of this isn’t interesting to many, but honestly I’m really ready for it. I like to write often, so when I encountered this class, it struck me in a positive way. I guess it’s good to be in journalism because I write in my journal at home. That’s going to make this class a challenge because I’m not used to outsiders reading what I write. My favorite things to do are work and just chill. I’m not too much of a people person unless I have to be. I live day by day with things. That pretty much sums me up. I’m thankful to have this class and am looking forward to everything that can and will come from it.

At Scott, I’m involved in a lot. I’m president of the Student Body Government. I am also a member of the 2014 Senior Homecoming Court. I’m one of the captains of the varsity volleyball team. In addition, I’m involved in the broadcasting program. Our program has its own radio station and has partnered with BCSN to produce our own sports television show. We have also partnered with WTOL, Channel 11, to have them come in and work with us and our equipment. This helps because it ties in with Journalism. I didn’t think journalism had such large ties with broadcasting.

When I go to college, I would like to major in communications with a minor in photography and business/administration. I’m fascinated with what you can do with technology. Outside of school, I work at Red Lobster. I will also be starting an internship with the WTOL. In my spare time, I like to hang out with friends. But usually it just ends up being me and my best friend eating ice cream and watching movies on Netflix. That’s my life! If you have ideas that you want me to write about them, feel free to contact me at thaney507@gmail.com.

Hello, my name is Bria Criss. I am 15 years old and I attend Scott High School.

I was born in Toledo. I haven’t lived anywhere else. Every summer my family and I travel somewhere, but I didn’t get to do anything this summer because I joined the Upward Bound program. I’ve  played volleyball and tennis, but that ended when I injured my wrist. I may not play anymore, but I will always be a fan. In addition to sports, in my spare time I like to babysit, do nails, and go shopping. I also do very well in school. I currently have all As and Bs in my classes. I love everything in my life and wouldn’t change it for anything. Questions or comments? Email me at Crissbria@yahoo.com.

Hey, my name is Pierce Millhouse and I attend Scott High school.

I am 16 and will turn 17 in January. This is my first time going to a TPS high school. So far it’s going great. The students are nice and very polite. I am the youngest of three children. I have two older sisters. One of my sisters, Bernice, is 30 years old. My other sister, Monica, is 18 years old. They both attend Owens Community College. I love them to death and I am also very proud of them. I would do anything for my sisters. I don’t really do anything after school except play basketball and video games, like Call of Duty and 2k.

When I’m super bored, I mostly go to a park and hoop with other people. I’m trying to get a good scholarship. It’s very hard though because there is a lot of competition in Toledo, but I practice every day to get ready for them. School is another important part of my life as well. I am a very happy and proud junior. I know I need a diploma to get a good job. I also would like a scholarship for college. I want to be an architect. These are the most important goals in my life. I’m happy to share a small portion of my life with you. I hope I have a fun time sharing stories with you as well. The year has just begun, so I know there are a lot of stories to tell. If you have any questions contact me at pkmillhouse1@gmail.com.

Hi, my name is Emonee Gregory and I am a sophomore at Scott High School.

I am originally from Bridgeport, Connecticut. I moved to Toledo in 2008, and  live with my mother. I have a 12 year old brother, his name is G’nai, but he lives with my father in Connecticut. I also have an 18 year old sister, Shakayla, but she lives in Florida. I’m really a wonderful kid. I love to make people laugh. My biggest pet peeve is when people get smart with me, then I will get an attitude. Other than that, I like to go shopping and talk to my boyfriend in my spare time. I am also in Scott High School’s marching band, and am a pom.

As far as my education goes, I am an excellent student and I get wonderful grades. Last year I made the honor roll. I always complete my work/homework. I don’t play around when it comes to school and neither do my mother and father. I make sure my grades are good so I can stay in the band because I love it.I also like to play basketball and volleyball. My favorite holidays are Christmas and Thanksgiving. I love these holidays because they have to do with family. Family is important to me and I love my family. They always have my back through any situation, and I always have theirs.

My name is John Garner and I am going to tell you a little story about my life.

I was born in Lima and raised in Toledo. I have traveled a lot with my family. I have been to Florida, Detroit, Lima, Cincinnati, and Las Vegas. I really like to beat box and make beats on the table in my spare time. But, what I mainly do is play the game, workout, and play sports. Exercise is important to me because I have to stay in shape. I also like to cook, but I’m still learning how. My family and I celebrate every holiday and my mom always cooks macaroni and baked beans for Christmas. We always decorate the tree and my mom always lets my little brother put the angel on top. Some of my goals in life are to finish high school and college and to be successful. I want to have my own car, house, and business. My main focus is to stay positive and avoid negativity. One more is to focus on football.

Hi, I’m Richard Baldwin and I’m an 18-year-old senior.
I have a girlfriend who is also 18. I was born and raised in Toledo. I still live in Toledo and haven’t lived anywhere else. Hopefully,I have everything together this year so I can graduate on time with everyone else. My hobbies are selling cars, phones, and other electronics. Everything I do is 100 percent legal. I plan on turning my hobbies into my career. If I plan it out right and things go great for me, I will be self- employed and have two businesses of my own. I am really proud of what I can do and the skills I have. So far I’m doing well as a young man and I’m on the right path to success.

Hi, my name is Taisha Johnson. Most people can’t pronounce my name, so I tell them to call me by my nickname, Taeh.

I am 15 years old. I go to Scott High School and I am in the 10 grade. I get good grades, mostly A’s and B’s. I used to be in band and I ran track, but I stopped. I love math and it is my favorite subject. My least favorite is social studies and science is next, but I can deal with it. I like all of my teachers this year. I live with my mom, Lavonna.

I am the youngest child and the only girl. I have one brother now and his name is Terrence. He has a son, my nephew, and his name is Terrence Jr. The reason I say I have one brother now  is because last year, in November, my other brother died. His name was Trevon. My family took it very hard. We all love and miss him. This is a little bio of my life, if you want to know more about me, you can email me at Taisha303@gmail.com.
